What is Covid-19?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. ‘CO’ stands for corona, ‘VI’ for virus, and ‘D’ for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as ‘2019 novel coronavirus’ or ‘2019-nCoV.’ The COVID-19 virus is a new virus linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of common cold.
Why is Covid-19 Dangerous?
This virus is very dangerous because it spreads very fast which led to serious illness and even death. Covid-19 can infect anyone. If you are older, the possibility of risk is very high for especially if you have a weak immune system.
This virus spreads when a sick or infected person coughs or sneezes. If you breathe the droplets or swallow them, the virus can easily get into your body. The Covid-19 infection is classified into Asymptomatic (no symptoms) and Symptomatic (with fever, cough, ongoing fatigue, shortness of breath, problems with concentration, insomnia, chest pain or dizziness.)
How to prevent the Covid-19?
To be vaccinated is the number one step to prevent the infection from the virus. But, even if you are vaccinated, you must still follow the safety precautions such as covering the mouth if you sneeze, wearing facemask and face shield (if required in designated areas), washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing, using disinfectant, avoid sharing foods, drink vitamins rich in vitamin C and take a bath regularly.
Our School's Readiness to Combat Covid19
We are highly aware of the consequences that Covid-19 pandemic has brought us. The school and teacher's role is to ensure a safe and healty environment by following the safety protocols of IATF.
For module distribution and retrieval, parents or guardians are required to use facemask and faceshield for protection. Before entering the school premises, temperature is taken to make sure that they are not sick. Contact tracing form is filled up first before they proceed to the respective advisers to received the modules. Physical distancing is highly observed in the entrance, exit gate and outside of the classroom. Windows and doors are covered with plastic and sanitizing (alcohol ) are provided. After distribution and retrieval of modules and answer sheets, classroom and school grounds are disenfected.
